My hCG Diet Results

At the start, I was 172 lbs, a size 16/18, at 34.5% bodyfat – I had almost 60 lbs of fat on my short 5’1″ frame.

Fast forward with hCG Injections, I reached 117 lbs initially, added several pounds of muscle through crossfit, and now have been consistently between 124-127 lbs for close to 3 years, a comfortable size 4, 16-17% bodyfat – I now only have between 18-23 lbs of fat on my body at any given time.

I lost 2/3rds of all the fat on my body. Just wanted to clarify that.

This is so important because honestly, the weight loss aspect of any diet, including hCG, can be considered “easy” (even though actually the hCG protocol is anything but easy!) – but in comparison to actually maintaining weight loss, hCG is reliable and straightforward. Maintenance is where we ALL struggle. But don’t feel discouraged – seriously, the ladies who follow my P3tolife program between rounds of hCG and after after being done, REALLY maintain. Is This Diet Going to Starve You?

В В В В Welcome!В I know you guys want to know a little about me and my results with this protocol, so you can decide if it’s something you should check into or not.

Especially because you’ve likely heard that the HCG diet is a scam, a placebo, that it’s dangerous, or something to that effect.

The first thing I want to say is that no one is forcing you to agree to anything, so please don’t feel pressured or threatened.

There’s no rush for you to decide if this diet is truly a scam or if it really works.В Simply reading about it is not the same thing as doing the diet, so nothing bad is going to happen to your body right now while you’re on my blog, I promise!В It often pays to keep an open mind, collect the appropriate information and analyze, then make a decision for yourself.

I feel this is a very valuable thing to do because giving a decision thought and research means that you will feel GOOD about your final decision, whether it’s a go or a no-go, you’ll have that inner peace inside you. My hCG Diet Before and After Stats

YES, I am a REAL person.В Really really! I’ve been married for 12 13 14В 15 16 17 years to my best friend and we have a 3 4 5 6 7 8 year old son (whom you’ll see make “guest appearances” in some of my youtube videos– subscribe so you don’t miss those).

In a nutshell – I began the hCG protocol in February of 2011. I have been maintaining my approximate 50 lb weight loss from the hCG protocol, without doing the diet again, for over 4 years, since November of 2012. And just a quick note – some see the number and get a little confused, wondering if it took me 2 years to lose 50 lbs – no don’t worry! I have a full post explaining my unique journey here, but basically, I took LONG breaks (several months) between each 6 week round on the diet. I was technically a normal weight after only two 6 week rounds of hCG – so close to 50 lbs in just 12 weeks total. So yes, this doesn’t take forever.

Update January 6, 2017

It’s now been over 4 years since I finished hCG. I still have yet to make a new update blogpost since my previous one like 2 years ago – sorry guys- been busy making other stuff for you all! But I’m still between 16-17% bodyfat, and still crossfitting consistently 3-4 days a week. Here’s a most recent photo from January 2017:

The beautiful thing about my maintaining weight loss story is I haven’t spent 1 day in the entire past two years doing any counting of calories whatsoever. Yes, my eating has changed overall, more on that later, but it has come to fit seamlessly into my life in a way I don’t have to spend excessive time thinking about or being obsessed with. I think that is the goal for all of us.

You’ll find as you spend more time on my blog that I’m VERY honest and realistic about what you can and can’t expect with on this diet plan.

I have lots of bodyfat testing to prove my fat loss with hCG, which if you are leery of it, might help you, and I’m just as quick to tell you how hard this protocol can be if you’re not mentally ready for it.

I have learned through this process to think more in terms of fat and body fat percent, rather than weight on the scale, which I realize will be new for many of you.В Now I spend my days going to Crossfit, lifting heavy weights and doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)- I do this 3 hours a week and I LOVE it.В I recently hit a PR (personal record) of 103 lbs for an overhead squat!

I am coming up on my 2 year anniversary maintaining my weight loss in October folks- can’t believe it’s almost been that long.

UPDATE 11/18/2014

It’s now been OVER a 2 years since I finished hCG! В I am currently at 16.5% bodyfat at 127 lbs- which is actually a little less than when I finished the diet.В In reality, I’m quite a bit more fit/stronger now as I’ve gained about 8 lbs of muscle since then (thank you Crossfit).В You will see if you spend any time on my blog that I’m most concerned about body composition and fat loss, not simply weight loss- there’s a big difference.В The reason this is important is because I have been freed from the scale as a judge of my body- I actually weigh 8-9 lbs more than the day I finished my last round of hCG on any given day, but I am happy about this because all of it is actually muscle.

Here’s up my updated photos- by the way- the reason I don’t look all super amazing compared to some after photos you might see sometimes is because I don’t do anything special like go tanning, wear high heels, photoshop parts of me off, or un-smile in my before photo to make my after photos look better- these photos are just me- and in reality, even though I haven’t put on fat, muscle takes up space on your body as well, just not as much as fat, so my measurements ARE indeed increased in some areas since finishing the diet due to this muscle, but I’m digging my strength now.

The Long Version of my Diet Story

My journey began in February 2011 when I was doing yet more research online regarding my autoimmune condition called Hashimoto’s, basically where my body attacks my own thyroid and gradually destroys it.В I had been ill several years without knowing why, and finally after getting a diagnosis, got some of my life back by taking thyroid medication, in the form of Cytomel (also known as T3 or active thyroid hormone…but that’s another story).В However, not all things were as they used to be pre-illness.В I continued to struggle in many ways with my health and weight.В My eating habits had gone downhill because of my depression over losing the active person I could no longer be.В I became addicted to sugar.В While researching this particular issue with sugar and looking at anti-yeast and candida diets, I saw someone ask a question on a forum- it said “does the hCG really work for weight loss?” or something to that effect.

I had never heard of this diet, so with interest I clicked on the thread and started reading.В The information was intriguing to say the least, but pretty hard to believe.В Still, it was certainly plausible, and what got me thinking that “hey, maybe this really works” was the fact that it wasn’t a new fad diet with some supplement someone supposedly just came up with; rather, it was a weight loss protocol that had been around since the 1950’s, when a man named Dr. Simeons discovered what could be achieved by combining the natural hormone hCG with a very low calorie diet.В Just as there are many cancer cures out there that have cured cancer in the past, but which remedies or knowledge of such remedies have been obliterated (see the book Politics in Healing- the Suppression and Manipulation of American Medicine) by the “Powers that Be” since those “Powers that Be” couldn’t make money off of such therapies.В After reading reading the history behind this protocol (it’s really not a diet, but a protocol to healthful wellness), I felt there may be some merit to it.

Proof that hCG works was in the real people doing the Diet

Next I started finding vlogs of people on youtube who had done or were doing this protocol in real life and sharing their experiences (click here to learn how to find these people).В It’s pretty tough to argue with real live people isn’t it?В You can read all the postings on forums and hubpages articles saying “hcg is a scam” or “hcg is a starvation diet” by people who have neither tried the diet nor researched it (btw do I look starved in the above photo?), but the truth is in actual results of thousands of people.В Real people were losing a lot of weight very quickly using this method.

My last concern was “how much of the weight loss on this diet is muscle and how much is fat?”В This was something with a much less clear answer as there haven’t been too many people aware of or able to track their bodyfat percent before and after doing the hCG diet through the reliable methods known, which are hydrostatic body fat testing and now, the DEXA scan.В The few examples I did find lost very little if any lean mass while doing this diet.

Many mechanisms of ethanol-induced fatty liver have been proposed.

This was encouraging to me, however the examples were all of men, who have a serious advantage in maintaining muscle because of their testosterone levels (I’m sure it’s more complicated than that but you know what i mean- I’m a GIRL- I’m different).

My own proof that the Diet works came from body fat testing

After thoroughly researching this protocol for months I finally felt comfortable and ready to proceed with it.В I did a hydrostatic body fat test before I started, and subsequent testing after each round.В I’m proud to say, that when doing the hCG diet properly, muscle loss is minimal even for women.В My third round alone I lost 7.5% body fat in only 38 days.В That equates to 16.8 lbs of fat lost and 4.2 lbs pounds of muscle.В So while there was some muscle loss, the ratio was phenomenal for what I achieved.В After my third round, I started going to a Crossfit gym 3-4 days a week to get strong (remember, I am coming from a pretty sedentary lifestyle as after I became ill I could no longer be active much of the time for several years).В In only 3 months time I gained 7 pounds of muscle!В Again, this was proved by hydrostatic body fat testing.В I maintained almost all my fat loss as I only gained 1/2 pound of fat back with that 7 lbs of muscle.В I did a subsequent 4th round to lose even more fat, then took a 5 month break where I again went to Crossfit 3-4 days a week, this time gaining 5 lbs ofВ muscle and again, only 1/2 pound of fat back.В I completed a 5th round which has brought me down to 21 pounds of fat total on my body (compared to the 59 pounds of fat I started with).В I never thought I could be this small again, and now I’m doing kipping pull ups at crossfit with ease.В Yes I just performed about 100 of them the other day for the infamous MURPH wod.

Garcinia Cambogia and Apple Cider Vinegar: A revolutionary diet or a dangerous hype?

Garcinia cambogia became famous after Dr.Oz called it the “holy grail of fat loss” on his popular talk show.

Spoiler Alert: Garcinia doesn’t work. It doesn’t have human trial studies to back up its weight loss claims. Keep reading and you’ll understand it for yourselves. And that Anna Haughman CNN story is a hoax!

But before that, I really have to share this with you.

Somewhere during my research process on Garcinia, I found out that it has been used as a flavoring agent for fish curries.

Wait a second…fish curries?

I had my aha moment and decided to Google the Tamil/Sinhala name of Garcinia.

And to my surprise, it turns out this sweetypie is what we (Srilankans) call Goroka.

For those interested, Garcinia is called Kudampuli (Pot Tamarind) in Tamil.

And we are those people who traditionally use Garcinia Cambogia to flavor our fish curries.

It’s a staple in every Srilankan kitchen.

Let me tell you this, Garcinia (Goroka) flavored fish curry, also known as Ambul Thiyal is one of the best things Srilankans have discovered.

What is Garcinia Cambogia and where is it from?

Garcinia Cambogia, also known as Malabar Tamarind, is a pumpkin shaped fruit that originates from south-east Asia and India.

The rind of this sour fruit is used as a traditional flavoring agent for fish curries.

It’s a staple in every Srilankan kitchen cupboard and that’s coming from a Srilankan (Me).

There are claims that Garcinia has been used as a home remedy for bowel problems, intestinal parasites and rheumatism [ 1 ].

As mentioned earlier, Garcinia Cambogia became super famous after Dr. Oz labeled it as the “revolutionary fat buster” in his show.

An Overview of Everything Dr. Oz said about Garcinia Cambogia

He’s the name behind the success of this viral weight loss supplement, so it only makes sense to start off with his claims right?

According to Dr.Oz, Garcinia Cambogia is the:

  1. “Holy grail” of weight loss.
  2. “Newest, fastest and least expensive fat buster”.
  3. “Revolutionary fat buster you’ve been waiting for.”

Let’s go through each claim about Garcinia from Dr.Oz show.

What does Garcinia Cambogia do for you?

These are the exact words of Doctor Julie Chen from Dr.Oz show:

It’s actually been seen in studies to help increase weight loss by 2-3 times, what people would naturally lose with just diet and exercise alone.

See the bolded words above?

Those words are what pretty much sold Garcinia Cambogia on the show.

I mean who wouldn’t like the idea of munching on KFC, sitting on the sofa all day and still lose that stubborn belly fat?

How does Garcinia Cambogia work for weight loss?

According to Dr.Oz, Garcinia cambogia works for weight loss in 2 ways:

  1. By blocking fat production and converting excess sugar into energy.
  2. By dealing with emotional eating. This works as an appetite suppressant.

What they repeatedly claimed is that Garcinia inhibits the production of fat in the body.

So if the body is not making fat, it will burn the fat it already has.

They also said that Garcinia Cambogia increases the production of serotonin in your brain.

Serotonin is a compound that helps avoid excess eating by making you feel fuller longer.

How is Garcinia different from all the other weight loss supplements out there?

Were you wondering about that?

Dr.Oz can read your mind because he asked that question to Julie Chen and she said:

Because it suppresses appetite and it helps to prevent fat from being made in the body.

It involves resisting your cravings, even when it is really tough to do so.

It moves it towards glycogen which is actually an energy source for the muscles to burn when you exercise.

Dr. Oz did a demonstration in which he explains how the liver turns excess sugar into fats.

He showed how Garcinia Cambogia will block the enzyme that turns the sugar into fats.

He explained that Garcinia uncorks the pathway that allows sugar to be converted into energy.

Here is another EPIC comment by Dr.Oz regarding Garcinia:

Your fat cells can begin to shrink out and convert into energy. Now even if you eat sugar, you’re unable because of Garcinia to make more of that fat cell.

That means you can eat your Ice cream, Pizza with double cheese and still get ready to brace the bikini season!

The whole focal point of their discussion is that Garcinia helps burn fat and not the muscle because it converts into energy that helps build muscle.

Other claims made on the Dr.Oz show:

  1. It doesn’t just help with weight loss, Garcinia also helps with overall body health.
  2. They saw in studies that patients had a decrease in total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL.
  3. Improvement in HDL which is a good cholesterol.
  4. Those studies saw improvements in patients with obesity.

Where is the REAL Evidence to prove these Weight loss claims about Garcinia Cambogia?

I’m yet to find those “studies” talked about in Dr.Oz show.

If anyone gets hold of accurate studies supporting the above claim about Garcinia, please feel free to send me the link.

However, I’ve found a research paper that concludes Garcinia Cambogia works for weight loss in the short term.

It says that the magnitude of the weight loss is so small that it requires more rigorous future trials to draw any serious conclusions [2, 3].

Another research paper has also concluded about the lack of human trial evidence to support the claim about Garcinia Cambogia for weight loss [ 4 , 6 ].

It points out that most studies in humans have been conducted on small samples.

All of those studies have failed to show the long-term effect of Garcinia for weight loss.

Does Garcinia Target Belly Fat?

Now here is an interesting finding.

Earlier we read that there isn’t much evidence to support the claims of weight loss caused by Garcinia Cambogia.

Here are 2 studies stating that Garcinia can help lose visceral fat (belly fat).

The first study was carried out on mice and the second was on humans.

Study 1: This study was carried out on obesity-prone mice.

They were fed with high-fat diet for 16 weeks.

One group was given Garcinia Cambogia every day and another group was a control.

Results: No significant changes in body weight and food intake between both groups of mice.

However, they found out that the group of mice that had Garcinia had a significant reduction in their visceral fat (belly fat) [ 5 ].

Study 2: Double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled.

This study was carried out on a group of men/women aged 20-65 years.

They all had a visceral (belly) fat area of 90cm or more [9].

  1. One group received 1000 mg HCA (Garcinia Cambogia) per day.
  2. The other group received placebo.
  3. The treatment was given for 12 weeks.
  4. After 12 weeks, both groups were given placebo for 4 weeks to assess any rebound effect.

Findings: After 16 weeks, the group that received Garcinia Cambogia had a significant reduction in visceral fat compared to the control group.

They also didn’t see any rebound effect from week 12 to 16 without Garcinia.

Regardless of their gender, both groups that received Garcinia showed belly fat reduction.

Bottom line: The belly fat loss from Garcinia was mentioned in Dr.Oz show and this is probably one of the rare studies out there to support that claim.

There still needs to be more human trial research to draw any serious conclusions.

This is primarily because of some of the rumored side effects of Garcinia.

Let’s Talk About Apple Cider Vinegar for Weightloss!

Apple Cider Vinegar is widely popular for its antifungal, antibacterial, antidiabetic and antioxidant properties [ 7 ].

As for its weight loss properties, here’s what a double-blind trial study found:

Participants: Japanese obese individuals with the same body weight, BMI and waist circumference [ 8 ].

  1. All participants were divided into 3 groups.
  2. Each group was given 500 ml of a beverage containing either 15 ml vinegar, 30 ml vinegar or 0 ml vinegar.
  3. They were given this treatment every single day for 12 weeks.

Results: The study found out that both groups that took the Vinegar beverage had significant weight reduction than the placebo group.

They also noticed more reduction in belly fat.

Bottom line: Apple Cider Vinegar actually has more reliable evidence for weight loss than Garcinia in human trial studies.

Garcinia Cambogia and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet Recipe

This is the method used and recommended by everybody to lose weight with the Garcinia Cambogia and ACV diet.

What you will need:

Pure Garcinia Cambogia Capsules: Buy a brand that’s FDA approved and has 60% HCA with no fillers etc.

Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother (Bragg’s is an excellent choice)

8 ounces of warm water in a glass.

A straw: To protect your teeth/enamel from any damage by the ACV.

  1. Mix 2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar into a glass of 8 ounces of warm water.
  2. Swallow the Garcinia Cambogia and drink the ACV water.

When to do it: Once in the morning, 30 minutes before breakfast and once in the afternoon, 30 minutes before lunch.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1 . Which brand of Garcinia Cambogia did Dr.Oz recommend?

Dr.

Starting out you may want to take two capsules per day and then if you are not losing weight fast enough after 2-3 weeks, add another capsule to make a total daily dosage of 1,500mg.

Oz did not recommend any brands and he clearly mentioned that on his show.

2 . Which brand of Garcinia Cambogia is the best?

Although we traditionally use it in our fish curries, Garcinia Cambogia is not something I will be using for weight loss purposes anytime soon.

I’ve done my part to educate you guys about this product for weight loss but I don’t trust it, yet.

My opinions might change in the future if/when there are enough studies to support the claims on humans.

I’m not very satisfied with the before/after pictures and videos I’ve seen so far either.

Therefore I refuse to mention or link out to any Garcinia brands.

3. What should you look out for when buying Garcinia Cambogia?

  1. Strictly watch out for online scams. Don’t bother with the free trials from random websites and Facebook pages.
  2. Look for an FDA approved brand.
  3. Make sure it has at least 60% Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA) which is the active ingredient.
  4. And make sure it doesn’t have any fillers.

4 . Is Garcinia Cambogia safe for diabetics and pregnant women?

If you’re diabetic, pregnant or under any serious medications, please consult with your doctor before taking any weight loss supplements.

5 . What are the side effects of taking Garcinia Cambogia?

There’s been a lot of talks on this lately.

There have many claims of Garcinia causing Diarrhea, constipation, and insomnia.

Those, we can deal with.

However, there are also accusations of Garcinia causing liver damage, kidney and heart problems.

Now that’s something I wouldn’t want to risk myself with, which is another main reason why I’m not recommending any brands on here.

I’m still doing some research on the side effects of Garcinia Cambogia.

6 . Do you have any reliable before/after photos of Garcinia Cambogia and Apple Cider Vinegar diet results?

I have searched all over the internet and still haven’t come across any reliable before/after photos yet.

Some of these YouTube videos I saw on Garcinia reviews is just plain promotional ones.

Some have created a YouTube channel to post 1 video review of Garcinia Cambogia and that’s it.

No further updates or reliable photos whatsoever.

Even many of the comments left on these videos sound so fishy.

Request for you: If you have seen any reliable before/after photo results of Garcinia and Apple Cider vinegar diet anywhere, please send me the link so I can add it on here.

Photo credit will be given of course but I just can’t seem to find any that seem convincing.

7 . What about Apple Cider Vinegar for weight loss. Does it work for real?

As mentioned earlier, Apple Cider Vinegar also lacks much evidence from human trial studies.

However, I’ve definitely seen convincing before/after photos and videos of ACV diet.

I myself have a bottle of Braggs ACV and drink it whenever I’m bothered.

Another plus is that Apple Cider Vinegar side effects are definitely don’t sound scary compared to Garcinia.

Warrior Diet – One Month Transformation (Before/After Photos)

I have officially completed my goal of one full month on the Warrior Diet–and the results were beyond what I expected. My results have included weight loss of over 8 pounds, as well as pretty significant strength gains:

While I am pleased with the aesthetic outcome, the benefits have gone far beyond the tangible. Let me take a minute to reflect on the various effects I have noticed this past month:

  • Energy-Levels have soared. I believe this happens for a couple of reasons: partially due to the increase in ghrelin, and partially due to the fact that you aren’t spiking your insulin all day long with starchy or high-glycemic foods, which can screw with your blood sugar and energy levels, and lead to frequent energy crashes. Lastly, whenever you are fasting, the things that you DO put into your body are absorbed and utilized more efficiently. In this case, caffeine from coffee, tea, etc will have an amplified effect. I have never felt that I NEED coffee, I just like the taste, along with the routine aspect of it. On this diet, I recommend drinking your coffee and tea without sugar, and staying away from energy drinks all together, in order to avoid the aforementioned sugar crashes.
  • Liberation and productivity! No more waking up in the morning and needing to worry about cooking a decent breakfast, packing food for the office, or needing to head out to buy lunch–throwing a one-hour interruption into the most productive time of my day, and causing a zero-production food coma for the next two hours following lunch. My current routine has been: wake up, eat 3 brazil nuts, drink a cup of coffee, throw a one ounce package of almonds in my pocket in case I get hungry later, head out and stop at McDonald’s for an unsweetened iced tea, and get to work for the day…. and not think about food again until around 6:30 pm after my workout.
  • I love food more than ever before. After going the first 10 or 12 waking hours of the day without food, it feels like my taste buds explode when I do eat dinner. My appreciation for food has really increased, and I find myself experimenting with new flavors and enjoying the process of cooking. I also don’t have to hold back. While I tend to eat pretty clean (few grains and few sweets), I get pretty ravenous and go to town on whatever I choose to eat that night–and I don’t limit myself nor feel badly about it.

    When deciding which of the products you should buy, always refer to the ingredient list and check the percentage of HCA it contains.

    Just last night I ate nearly two pounds of pulled pork from Whole Foods. Not to mention a massive protein shake with peanut butter and a a little bit of dark chocolate, a bowl of raspberries, veggies with cheese sauce, and a huge bowl of gourmet popcorn.

  • Weight has come off almost effortlessly (while increasing strength). Any other time in my post-college life, when I have wanted to try and get cut, I have been able to do so only by nearly killing myself with high-intensity cardio 5 days a week. And in those cases, strength and muscle mass suffered. In my current Warrior Diet plan, I am only doing cardio twice a week, for about 20 minutes each time–either on the stairmaster, or jogging on the treadmill. Weight has come off on nearly a daily basis, and my strength has increased fairly significantly over the past month.
  • Overall sense of well being and happiness. My close friend (and co-author on this website) Timmy Kal and I have often talked about the value of enthusiasm, and how it seems like it fades as we get older. As kids, we would get excited about the simplest shit and could hardly contain it. But as we get older, these moments are few and far between. If you have a friend that IS excitable and enthusiastic, I bet you notice it, and also would bet that you enjoy being around that person. This past month, I have found myself far more enthusiastic and excitable–to the point that I thought the phenomenon deserved some research. Sure enough, I found a potential linkage between ghrelin (the hormone that increases during times of fasting) and Dopamine¹–the chemical in the brain that regulates mood, EXCITEMENT, MOTIVATION, as well as cognition, memory, etc, etc, etc! Not only that, but studies have shown that a lack of Dopamine can lead to Parkinson’s Disease², therefore increasing ghrelin (via fasting) could also have very important preventative effects.

Why the Warrior Diet Works

This diet is not a “magic bullet” for fat loss, but I believe it has a slight edge over more common diets for a few important reasons:

  • Your body is on fat burning mode in the morning, and the Warrior Diet exploits this . I really believe that weight loss is no more complicated than calories in vs. calories out over the course of a 24 hour period–NO MATTER WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO EAT THOSE CALORIES. Therefore, pretend your maintenance calories are 3000 cals. If you choose to eat four 700 calorie meals throughout the course of the day, or one massive 2800 calorie meal in the evening (or even in the morning instead) it is all the same–because you are still at a deficit. HOWEVER, the reason that the Warrior Diet is superior, is that when you wake up in the morning, your body is in fat burning mode. In most eating plans, you sabotage this as soon as you eat breakfast–especially since many of us eat starchy, high-GI breakfasts that include bread, cereal, oatmeal, etc. The Warrior Diet EXTENDS the fat burning window throughout the course of the entire day, until your feast begins in the evening.
  • It is extremely easy to follow. Okay, the first four days WILL be difficult while your body adjusts. But once you get over the hump, you won’t be battling hunger pangs all day, because your body knows it will be getting its nutrients and calories in the evening, and starts expecting it. And without constant changes in blood sugar, you will have less cravings. Throughout the month, I have had very little to no cravings for any sweets. Of all “diets” I have ever tried, this has by far been the easiest to stick to without faltering.
  • It doesn’t really feel like a “diet”. It is really just a change in your eating structure. Plus, you can really eat as much as you want in the evening, so it hardly feels like a diet at all. Trust me when I say it will be difficult to over eat your daily calories in such a small window of time. Therefore it doesn’t really take any EFFORT to restrict calories, it more or less happens naturally.

The main downfall of this diet for me is that it is sometimes difficult to consume enough calories, especially going grain-free like I have been for the most part. I have had to rely on some calorie dense foods to fill in the gaps, such as peanut butter, coconut milk, olive oil, etc. I don’t feel badly for eating these things at all–but my point is that it sometimes takes a concerted effort to make sure I am getting at least 2500 calories. The reason I target that number is because I want to continue gaining strength and muscle. For someone with the sole goal of losing body fat, this may not be a concern or obstacle at all.

Going Forward

Even though my one-month experiment is complete, I have no plans to discontinue my Warrior Diet. It has totally changed the way I look at food and nutrition, the daily “template” better fits my lifestyle and natural hunger cycles, and I love the effects it has had on my body–both tangible and intangible. I can see this being a permanent lifestyle change for me moving forward. The only reason I could see myself deviating from this plan, is if I decide to strive for more muscle gain. I am down to about my college-sophomore body weight (although now stronger), and I don’t really desire to lose any more weight. I will now try to tweak the Warrior Diet (possibly by reinstating grains and increasing carbs) for more of a muscle gain plan and see what kind of results I see.
